Homemade chocolate flavoured almond milk! Enjoy it with your cereal, as a base for a smoothie or to drink as is.
Soak almonds for 4 hours or all night. Discard water and rinse well.
Soak dates in 1 cup of water for 30 minutes.
Put the almonds and 2 cups water in a high-speed blender and mix for approximately 1 minute.
Strain, pressing gently on the mixture to extract as much milk as possible.
Rinse the blender and pour the milk back in.
Add the vanilla, cacao powder and dates with their soaking water. Mix well.
Milk will keep for a couple of days in the fridge.
Add 3 tbsp of chia seeds to 1 cup of almond milk. Mix well and let sit so that the seeds soak up the milk; about 45 minutes. The texture will be that of a pudding.
